How I think Microsoft could improve Windows XP

I've been using Windows XP as my main desktop operating system for about a year now. I'm really very happy with it, as are most XP users I know. It's probably the best job Microsoft has ever done on a desktop OS. However, there are some things that could have been done better. One year later--especially now that Service Pack 1 has been released--it's worth looking at what Microsoft could have done better, though I don't think any of the flaws are crucial.
Anyone who has set up a Windows XP system has surely learned to hate the "notification area" messages that nag you about setting up a Passport and taking the Windows XP tour. Those of us who install a lot of Windows XP systems have learned to hate them a lot. They may still exist in the SP1 version of Windows XP, but I hope not. I know of no way to disable them, and they really ought not to come back when you close them the first time.
