Microsoft announced this morning that the Japanese launch of its Xbox gaming system would be delayed until February 22nd, so that the company can focus on getting enough machines into its home market in time for the holidays. The move places Japan on the receiving end of a system that Japanese video game companies have practiced since the beginning: Generally, companies such as Sega, Nintendo, and Sony have released their new hardware in Japan first and then issued US versions months later.
