Bill Gates, co-founder and chairman of Microsoft, is the richest person in the world for the sixth consecutive year, even after his net worth fell more than $10 billion, Forbes magazine reported yesterday. Of 11 Northwest billionaires that made Forbes' list of the richest people, four owe their fortunes to the success of the world's largest software maker. Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen was listed as the fourth-richest person in the world, with $20.1 billion, while Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer ranked 16th, with a net worth of $11.1 billion. Charles Simonyi, who retired from Microsoft last year to start his own company, barely made the list with a net worth of $1 billion dollars. He ranked number 427.
