The service-oriented-architecture (SOA) buzzword is taking hold inside the Redmnd software giant. Microsoft has been talking at increasing length about service-oriented architecture (SOA) and how the company plans to implement SOAs that are grounded in .NET. A SOA is a collection of services that communicate with each other. Microsoft's Distributed Component Object Model (DCOM) and the Object Management Group's Common Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA) are examples of SOAs.
